Hotel Porta Faenza In Florence Gets My Vote!

We stayed at the Hotel Porta Faenza for one night in October, 2009.  We had stayed there a year earlier for two nights and we liked the quiet, convenient location.  We arrived at 10:30 am and they checked us into our room early.  We were grateful for the chance to put our luggage away before going into Florence to see the Baptistry and Santa Croce church.

The room was large and the bathroom was nice, with the usual small shower.  We were anxious to get out into town for sightseeing and shopping, so we made a beeline for the Duomo.  The staff at the Hotel Porta Faenza were very nice and helpful.  They drew routes on maps for us and told us where we could find good restaurants.  I think the best thing about the hotel was their breakfast.  It was very well done with a lot of choices.  The food tasted fresh and the coffee was good.  We paid 95 Euros for the night.  The room was supposed to include free wifi access.  However, when I tried to use the wifi, there was no signal.  I went to the front desk to find out why and the clerk said it should be working.  After some testing, the clerk proclaimed that it was not working.  So, I didn’t have internet access after all.  I had to find an internet cafe to check my email.  Oh well. We enjoyed this hotel and would stay there again.  It’s quiet and a very easy walk to the Duomo and train station.
